The LeRoy Police Department is a full service full time (24/7) police department consisting of eight full time police officers and one K9. The Le Roy Police Department provides police protection and services to the citizens of LeRoy, a rapidly growing community of approximately 3800 people located in McLean County. By mutual aid agreements, The LeRoy Police Department also responds to emergency situations in neighboring communities to assist the agency having jurisdiction when requested. LeRoy Police Department has jurisdiction in Empire Township through an Intergovernmental Agreement. LeRoy PD has a School Resource Officer in LeRoy Schools through a partnership with the LeRoy School District.

Through proactive enforcement of traffic laws, criminal laws, and city ordinances, the Le Roy Police Department protects residents, innocent motorists, pedestrians, and personal property from reckless drivers, careless or unsafe drivers, unlicensed drivers, drunk drivers, drug traffickers, and criminals.

Major thoroughfares pass through LeRoy including Interstate Highway 74, U.S. Route 150, U.S. Route 136(just South of LeRoy), and other major county roadways including county highway 21 South from Le Roy, which provides a travel route to the Clinton Lake recreation area/Nuclear Power Plant (10 miles South of LeRoy), and County Highway 21 North from Le Roy, which provides access to the popular destination of Moraine View State Park, located 5 miles North of LeRoy. Each day, thousands of vehicles pass through LeRoy. A recent Illinois Department of Transportation traffic flow study showed nearly 20,000 vehicles pass by Le Roy on I74 alone in a 24 hour period. IDOT estimates approximately 8300 vehicles travel on S. Chestnut St. and 5300 vehicles travel on Walnut St. in Le Roy each day.

LeRoy is home to two 24/7 truck stops (Love’s Travel Shops and LeRoy Travel Plaza), a 24/7 Casey's General Store, two 24/7 Hotels, and countless other businesses.

Bloomington-Normal is located 15 miles West of LeRoy and Champaign-Urbana is located 30 miles East of LeRoy.
